Never Buy Garlic Again: How to Grow an Endless Supply at Home
Did you know you can grow an entire head of garlic from a single clove? Learn how to start your own endless garlic garden in pots or your backyard.
The Easiest Crop You Will Ever Grow
If you have a sunny windowsill or a small patch of dirt, you can grow garlic. It is incredibly resilient, requires very little maintenance, and is highly rewarding. The best part? You already have the seeds in your kitchen!
Step-by-Step Planting Guide
You don't need fancy seeds; just buy a high-quality, organic head of garlic from the store.
- Separate the Cloves: Carefully break the head apart. Keep the papery skin on the individual cloves.
- Planting: Plant the cloves with the pointy end facing UP, about 2 inches deep in the soil, spaced 4 inches apart.
- Timing: Garlic is typically planted in the fall and harvested in the summer. It needs a period of cold weather to trigger the clove to divide into a full bulb.
- Harvesting: When the lower leaves turn brown and droop, it's time to dig them up! Let them dry in a well-ventilated area for a few weeks before eating.
